A key reason I think Berkeley (it could be the SF Bay Area or N. California or even all of California, but my examples are all from Berkeley) is lame is that it has businesses named such things as:
- The TranscenDENTIST
- Yoga To The People
- Cafe Gratitutde
- Crepevine
